It's so hard how fast one year went. You're still so very missed. I still talk of you often and share your jokes. You made a big dent in the world that'll never be replaced. Rest In Pease, friend.

We were deeply sadened to learn of his passing. He was such a great dr to my husband. When my husband had a heart attack,  we all thought he was going to die. I was in the waiting room for an appointment with Dr. Rose, Dr. Espat's wife... when everyone who was waiting to see Dr. Espat told me he was the most compassionate, kind man they had ever known. They LOVED him so much! Their praise was so inspiring that, when I met with Dr. Rose,  I asked if he could be my primary, too. 
(This was a couple months ago and she told me he wasn't taking any new patients.) 
I am sad to know he has passed on too soon.

Deepest condolences to the immediate and extended family of Pedro Espat.

I will never forget my first memory of my uncle. I heard he was coming back to Belize for Christmas. Everyone was excited to see him, I didn't know who he was. Upon his arrival at my grandparents house he initiated a conversation with my father. I was merely a boy, about 6, playing on the floor when I looked up and saw a larger than life figure of a man.

Undoubtedly my uncle Pedro was a pillar of our family of such magnitude that everyone gravitated toward him. He had a magnetic personality even to a 6 year old boy.

With his passing there now exists a void that will never be filled. He now lives on in our thoughts, memories and the countless lives he touched during his illustrious carreer as a doctor. His legacy now lives on through his brothers, daughters and wife.

Rest in Peace Dr Pedro Espat, you will be profoundly missed. 

I just spoke with my mother, Mae W.,  who was a patient of Dr. Espat for 30 years. She adored him! She was always in a good mood after visiting with Dr. Espat. He made her and her husband (Ray W.) laugh, feel cared for and understood. My mother is not able to use her computer or get on the internet, so I am writing to send condolences on her behalf. She has mentioned many times that Dr. Espat was a wonderful man. The memories she shared with me today via phone were related to his sense of humor. He could tell a joke and also roll with the jokes of his patients. My mother really appreciated his good nature, sense of humor and warmth. She misses him.

Oh how I have missed Dr. Pedro!! We all worked together  in Vero on certain days  and when he was there we knew our day would be great.!!  I became one of his many patients who knew they were in great hands. He was amazing and so much fun to be with. 
I truly loved this man. He was a gift from God then and now he is a gift in Heaven.

You three beautiful people were the loves of Pedro’s life. But of course you know that already because Pedro would tell you. If he was ever having a busy day at work and would stop by to discuss a patient, because he was that guy who cared so much about his patients he would frequently stop by to review their scans, no matter how busy, he always took extra time to chat about our families. He would always light up when talking about you three! He was so proud of his wife and his daughters  and he loved sharing what adventure you were all up to next. Pedro had all at once a grumpy, feisty, sweet and joyful soul that he shared freely with all who were lucky enough to know him.  My deepest condolences to you all.

Due to changing insurances from Medicare, I was forced to switch from Dr Espat to another primary care provider last year and just now found out about his passing. I am so sorry for his family and those of us his former and present patients, as his extended family. What a smart and jovial man he was, and how much I enjoyed his expertise in diagnostics. Pedro was one of the first doctors to greet me when I joined the medical staff at Sebastian hospital. He would stop by the radiology reading room and shoot the breeze. Always made me laugh. Wonderful family!!!

We will miss Dr. Espat immensely. He was a great and caring doctor, always willing to listen and help. And he did, often.

Not only that but as our neighbor we will miss his wit and humor. He was more than our doctor and neighbor though, he was a friend.

My first brother was indubitably a family icon, a trusted husband, proud father, loving son, caring brother with a rush of true-hearted friends.

He chose to inviolably become an internist doctor fully paying his dues with unblinking eyes on modernity, painstakingly adopting best practices, and insanely striving to improve patients' well-being.  he was transparently lite by both the cheerful interactions and 'magical', around-the-clock healing of his endless, far-flung patients.

His death has stolen our family's best, caused his family, friends, staff and patients to unpreparedly mourn, robbed his patients like a thief in the night of their decades-long family healer, and virtually dispossessed the Sebastian community of an exemplary, contributory resident.

He designed his life and departed on his terms.  The reversal of negative norms is expected to fade with his passing.

Alike Pope Benedict XVI, he has humbly returned to his father's home, having assiduously and righteously shepherded his family, shared calculatedly and richly his friendship, and untouchably lent confidence and contentment to his treasured patients.

May Pedro's soul rise in glory and rest in peace.  Amen

He always had time to listen, make a few jokes & make you feel & know that everything will be fine.
