Patricia was born in Tampa to the late Kenneth H. and Patricia A. (Castano) LeRoy. She attended Sacred Heart Academy where she met her lifelong best friend, Wanda Owens, in 5th grade. After graduating in the Class of 1965, she pursued a career in nursing. It was during this time she met her future husband, Robert, who was stationed at MacDill Air Force Base. Patricia and Robert married and remained happily in love for 55 years.
Patricia’s greatest passions were family, and church. She spent many weekends surrounded by family members at her home. She was a faithful parishioner at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, while living in Tampa; then, a faithful parishioner at Nativity Catholic Church, upon moving to Brandon. She made PB&J sandwiches for her church’s food pantry weekly and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
For the last 20+ years, Patricia enjoyed a large Coke slurpee from 7-Eleven daily. She loved gardening despite her lack of a green thumb. She also loved baking, making beautiful birthday cakes for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. During the holidays, everyone looked forward to her sweet potatoes. Thriller by Michael Jackson always made her dance and she loved to sing Mamma Mia.
She is survived by Robert, her beloved husband of 55 years; daughters: Tina Martinez (Carlos), Linda Borja, and Laura Newberg (Anthony), 6 grandchildren, 1 grandson-in-law, 3 great grandchildren, siblings: Yvonne Weeks, and Kenneth LeRoy, Jr.; extended family, and numerous friends.
A life celebration for Patricia will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.
A funeral mass for Patricia will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E Brandon Blvd, Brandon, Florida 33511.
In lieu of flowers Patricia would like donations to be made to the Nativity Catholic Church Food Pantry.
