Pat was born September 12, 1946, to the late Barbara O’Connell Jennings and Louis Jennings. She was a long time resident of New London, Connecticut, where she graduated from New London High School. She was a proud “Whaler,” majorette, and founding member of the now infamous T&T Club. She married the love of her life, Eugene Ray Girtman, at St. James Episcopal Church in New London on July 11, 1964. The two subsequently moved to Tampa, to begin their married life together.
Pat will always be remembered as a faithful wife, a loving and dedicated Gigi, a loyal friend, a humble caretaker, and the best mom any girls could ever hope for. She was a successful money manager, talented seamstress and hairdresser, avid collector, fierce scrabble competitor and devout UCONN Huskies women’s basketball supporter. Pat was the ultimate classroom mom when her girls were in school and she was the official creator of Christmas Magic. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her many beautiful craft creations, many of which were donated to charitable organizations. Friends and family alike anticipated personalized, hand crafted cards designed by Pat... true treasures. She greatly anticipated her annual trip to New England with her husband, where she was able to reconnect with precious family and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Louis Jennings; sister, Marjorie Jennings Adams; brothers Louis “Butch” Jennings, and David Jennings.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Ray Girtman; two daughters, Kimberly Fernandez and Tammie Girtman; one very special son in law, Johnny Fernandez; grandchildren, Ashley Fernandez, Allison Collera and husband Brian, John Morgan Fernandez and wife Laura; and one great-grandchild, Parker Fernandez. Survivors also include her beloved sister, Shirl Woolsey; aunt, Mary Lou Wright; and many adored cousins, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her two ardent protectors, Bebe and Chico.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Dora Children’s Home, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Florida Baptist Children’s Home, or Tunnel to Towers Foundations: four charities Pat and her husband, Ray, generously supported throughout the years.
