Pamela Patterson, born Pamela Florence Wolfe on March 5, 1951, was the youngest daughter of the late Peter F. Wolfe and Juanita R. Richardson and sister to Gayle Wolfe and Kay Richardson. Pam departed this earthly life peacefully on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 72.
Growing up in a military family, one can expect to be on the move. So, it was for Pam. At six weeks, the family made the long trek by car from Tampa to Anchorage, AK. In 1951, the ALCAN Highway was 1700 miles of dirt and gravel road with no motels- just log huts with wooden stoves used by the road builders - and few gas stations along the way. Our father's grit got us there safely, and our mother's endurance to sterilize Pam's baby bottles along the way on those wooden stoves. Little wonder, from that point on, Pam disliked taking a ride in a car as a child.
Our father was reassigned back to Washington D.C., and spent the next seven years living in the best little neighborhood, 22nd Rd., in Arlington, Va. It was a great place to grow up and form friendships. Through the years, Pam has maintained a 68-year friendship with Bonnie, who lived down the street.
On the move again, we moved to Bel Air, Md, in 1959. During the following years, Pam graduated high school, started working, married, started college at Johns Hopkins, became a mother, divorced, and learned to horseback ride. She and Kay spent enjoyable hours riding through the green pastures and trails in Maryland's countryside.
In 1978, while working for Pepsi-Cola in marketing, Pam decided to leave for Florida to attend the University of South Florida. So, off she and Peter went. During the next few years, Pam had various marketing jobs with American Tobacco and Motorola Communications and married Roy Patterson, who predeceased her. She also graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in marketing.
Looking to diversify her career, she became a State Farm Agent and maintained an office in Citrus Park for 30 years. She loved the work and enjoyed helping and serving her clients throughout those many years. She developed many close relationships throughout her professional life. Pam closed her office in 2019 due to Parkinson's. In September 2021, she was diagnosed with Mesothelioma.
Although Pam's office was in Citrus Park, she lived in St. Petersburg in the Old Northeast and loved the city and all that it had to offer. Especially the close friends that came to her during this time. She called it her "...happy place...". However, life unexpectedly brought changes, and she was relocating from Land O Lakes and remodeling a place in Palm Harbor to be near her sisters.
We all lost a very special person... she was the 'beauty' of flowers in the Spring, the 'brightness of the Summer sun, the 'full of color of Fall, and the 'glistening of a winter's snowflake... all of these and so much more...©gw
A "Celebration of Life" for Pam will be held in St. Petersburg, FL, toward the end of August at a future date, time, and place. There will be time for family and friends to come and share fond memories and stories at a catered event.
Pam is survived by her son, Peter G. Harris, of Hudson, FL with his wife Monica and Daniel, her dearly beloved grandson. Pam's sisters, Gayle and Kay, loved nephew Stephen and nieces Christine, Shannon, and Melissa.
If one wishes to remember Pam with a donation, the family requests that they be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation (https://www.parkinson.org/way…), the Michael J. Fox Foundation
