Norman L. Tyson, a devoted husband, father, and respected member of the community, passed away on Monday, April 15th, 2024 at the age of 82. Born in Tampa, Florida , Norman led a life marked by honor, dedication, and love.
After bravely serving his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, Norman continued his commitment to service as a dedicated law enforcement officer. Rising through the ranks, he eventually retired as a respected Police Captain, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and leadership.
Beyond his distinguished career, Norman was a loving and devoted husband to Beverly for 57 years and a cherished father to his daughter, CeLyn, and three sons, Shawn, Michael, and Steven. Ten Grandchildren and Five Great-Grandchildren. He found great joy in spending time with his family, creating cherished memories that will endure for generations.
Known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to excellence, Norman was admired by colleagues and loved ones alike. He touched the lives of many as a trusted friend, offering support and guidance whenever needed.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Norman enjoyed hunting, going to Yard Sales and Flea Markets, and was a diehard Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fan. He will be remembered for his determination, positive attitude, his warm smile, and his kind heart.
Norman is survived by his loving family and a multitude of friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever. His legacy of service, love, and friendship will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A visitation for Norman will be held Monday, April 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610. A funeral service will occur Monday, April 22, 2024 at 12:00 PM, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610. A committal service will occur Monday, April 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4228 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.
A memorial service to celebrate Norman's life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 27 located at 6912 N. Florida Avenue, Tampa, FL immediately following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fraternal Order of Police Tampa Lodge #27 in honor of his memory.
