Nilda was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Tampa as a young child. She married Charles Gary Johnson and had two children, Charles Matthew Johnson and Jennifer Lynn Johnson. They lived in Hawaii, Colorado & Georgia, and in her later years she remarried, Jimmy C Pettyjohn and lived in Henderson, Nevada and became Mormon. Two years ago, shortly after her husband's passing, she was diagnosed with ALS and moved back to Georgia with her daughter for her final days. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Fowler; mother, Nilda I. Arizmendi; three siblings, Evelyn Molina, Eileen Youngcourt, Jorge Arizmendi Jr; and numerous grandchildren.
A funeral service for Nilda will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2023 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida. Interment to follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
