A cherished son, brother, uncle, nephew and brother in law, passed away on November 21, 2023, in Tampa, Florida. Born on May 12, 1960 to Gilda Ferlita and Joseph Capitano, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Tampa, Fl. He was predeceased in death by his grandparents, Nick and Angelina Cappello Capitano, Frank and Maria Vacanti Ferlita. Survived by his parents and five siblings, Celeste Lazzara ( Santo), Joseph Capitano, Jr., Frank David Capitano ( Christina), Maria Capitano, Angela Nicole Nassif ( Matthew). He is also survived by Crystal Bartley, whom he dearly loved as a daughter.
A life long native of Tampa he attended St. Lawrence Catholic School and Tampa Catholic. He traveled to Italy, Sicily and Africa. He was known for blowing kisses across a room. If you didn't catch his blown kiss you missed out! He was an original member of the Erna Drive Eagles!
He dearly loved his many nieces and nephews. Enjoyed attending their Birthday parties and dinners! He especially enjoyed Sunday dinners with Gina at the home of his parents. He was known for his jokes and even in his struggles, his joy and his infectious smile sparkled like glitter on a dance floor. He always knew how to make us laugh!
Gina Filali entered his life two years ago. Their love was mutual! Together they were a great amazing couple! She kept Nick alive through her love, and medical understanding. The entire Capitano Family thanks you Gina for all you did for Nick! We have lost a brother but Gina, we have gained a sister with you! Nick was passionate about animals and was a great dog trainer. A visitation will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 10:00 a.m. -11:45. At noon a Catholic Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Richard Hermes, S.J. and Fr. Mike Moore. Afterwards, with internment to follow at the Italian Club Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Italian Club of Tampa and to The Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
