The Impact that you had on my life and the lives of so many young impressionable students was immeasurable. From the AR reading competitions and Florida State vs Gators rivalry between classrooms, you always found a way to make learning fun and engaging. You not only impressed on us the importants of a proper education, you showed us that human to human relationships were equally important. I can remember time and time again when you encouraged us to take a life lesson out of a situation rather than discipline us. I can go on and on as to how my 5th grade teacher thought me things and skills that I also teach my own children now at 36 yrs old. I looked for you for many years to tell you thank you, but could not remember your first name. When I finally found you, you were no longer here with us and so Carmen and I, your 2 top AR stars, greived your loss together. To your family, I'm sorry if this opens old wounds. Thank you for sharing Mr. Jackson with me and so many other students over the years. We were all truly blessed to have known him and his impact on us has postively  influenced not only  us, but our families as well.

Still remembering the impact that Milton had on me as an educator.  His passion still live on in others .  Milton, you are missed so much.

Dear Mr. Jackson.  You were my 6th grade teacher at Shaw during the 90s.  You had such a positive impact on me a child.  You were a wonderful, caring, loving man.  And you taught me how to write cursive beautifully.  I remember leaving on the last day and giving you the biggest hug and crying because I didn't want to leave you.  You had life long impact on me, and as I'm reading  peoples comments, so many others too.  You were a pillar of Tampa and you will be forever missed.

Oh good old Mr. Jackson. He was such a dedicated and excellent teacher to both me and my sister. I can remember his long talks  about him and his life and how much he cared about us, his students. He was such a kind and nice person and would always give us  rewards from candy to class celebrations on holidays. He made history a lot of fun and kept it entertaining. Thank you Mr. Jackson for making me who I am today and for everything you did for your students. May you rest in peace.

Mr. Jackson taught my son history.  My son loved going to his class every day and I thought he was an exceptional person and teacher.  He will be GREATLY missed.

Mr. Jackson wasn’t like every other teacher I had. He truly cared about the students , the material he taught, and made Fridays extra fun because 4th period 2011-2012 always won “fun friday.”  I remember all the small talk we would have in the hallways too as I would run passes from the main office, and casually stop by his class to tell him hello from time to time. I just wish he knew that he’s the reason why I stuck with the geosciences for college and for a career. The world lost an incredible man, and we were blessed to have known him.

To the Jackson Family - our deepest sympathy.  Both of our children were lucky enough to have Mr. Jackson at Coleman Middle School.  And although both children have very different personalities and learning styles, Mr. Jackson connected with them both and was a favorite for both.  I read in other people's remembrances how Mr. Jackson was such a good mentor, friend and inspiration and I can tell you he definitely had that impact on my two students.

He was an amazing man and I’m so thankful I got the chance to work alongside him at both Adams and Coleman.  I have never met someone so dedicated to his students.  He will be greatly missed.

What I remember most about my uncle Milton was the way he made me feel.  He was always so proud of me.  He would listen to my stories like they were the most interesting stories he ever heard. He made me believe I could do anything I put my mind to.  He would be the first to offer a compliment or a congrats.  I was always a winner in his eyes.  He made me feel special.  Only as an adult did I come to realize that was his superpower.  It’s what made him such a beloved and award-winning educator.  He drew from a seemingly endless well of pride and empathy to encourage and uplift thousands of students across the decades of his career. He made them all feel special, because he truly believed they all were special.  They were lucky to have him as their teacher.  I was luckier to have him as my uncle.  I can’t believe you are gone, Uncle Milton, but I hope you feel the love and pride all of us have for you.  I’ll carry that with me always. 

Uncle Milton was one of the best people I ever met he was kind and always brought happiness and smiles when he came into the room. I am very happy to have him as a grand uncle when I found out he passed I felt something I haven’t felt before it was a terrible pain he certainly deserved to live longer even though he had cancer he did not use that as a excuse he still spent time with everyone my uncle was a great man who lived a great life -thank you uncle Milton for everything you’ve done to make our lives better -William Roberts


My uncle was the most caring individual one could come across. He was so close to his younger sister, my mother, that it showed in how he cared for me and my brother. He always remembered special events growing up in life. When I think of him, I always think of sick days watching goosebumps on VHS in his TV room. I think of Easter candy baskets that I always looked forward to when I was younger. I think of how special it made me feel when he would say I looked just like my mother or grandmother. I remember his stories of him and my mother over summers in Cayman. I’ll never forget how he looked forward to my wedding. Everything had a special meaning for him and it showed. He cared so much for the ones he loved. I will always cherish the memories he gave me and will always love him and his memory. 

Both of my sons had Mr. Jackson as a teacher and he was a favorite.  He made classes interesting and he truly cared about and inspired his students.  He will be missed greatly.

Too many words to say with no way to begin. My dear Uncle Milton, each of us remembers your strength, kindness, compassion, and love in our own way. We each have Treasured Memories of you. Family gatherings with food and laughter. Learning how to do multiplication tables, reading, and the alphabet. My world was shaved with you as my lighthouse. The light that shown in the darkness to guide me away from the harsh coast and turbulent waters. Your light still shines brightly in my heart now and always. Physically you are no longer with me but your greatness will never leave me alone. I take solace and knowing you are no longer in pain or suffering. You are with those who went before and they were there waiting for you with open arms and smiling faces. You were the one who loved without judgment, without hate, and unconditionally. I know my world will be dimmer without you here. I will try to keep your precious heart, kindness, compassion, and love as my example on how to be always. You taught so many of us; adults, children, and strangers how we should be in this life.  A soul so beautiful and pure. I will keep your light with me always. I love and miss you now and until we meet again in the afterlife or the next life. 

My precious brother, it is so hard to know that we'll never hear your voice again.  Never receive one of those oh so detailed texts.   Our hearts are filled with sorrow but also joy in having known such a wonderful, caring man.   You made your family proud.   Your devotion to teaching was beyond extraordinary.   You made a difference in this world.   You leave this world with so many people better for having known you.   YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE!    Miss you so much.  Lee misses his third "son".   I pray that someday we can all gather together again in a better place.  Until then, rest now with no more pain.   Love you thru eternity.   

My dear uncle. The world has truly lost a beautiful soul. A man that molded so many children into great adults. He was one of a kind. Selfless is the only word that comes to mind. He would give anything to anyone whether he had it or not. He was one of my many heros growing up. He truly showed unconditional love to me and to my dad till the day my dad died. He was the foundation for so many family events growing up he made sure to always geta hug handshakeand a smile ill never forget. I truly know he's at peace with grandma. He will be missed. No one could ever fill his shoes. I love you uncle Milton. 

Where to begin...The world has truly lost one of the most caring, loving, considerate, and HUMAN people that I have ever had the honor of knowing.  My Uncle was a man of few words, but an owner of the full vocabulary of life!  He literally shaped and influenced hundreds if not thousands of young lives over the years with his teaching and mentoring.   Myself being one of them.  He was really more of a big brother to me than an Uncle.  He always had a kind word, a small gift or just the ability to make you smile when you needed it.  He knew the right things to say and when to say them.   Although there is no one in life that is perfect or that has the ability to see the future, he actually help to make the future with his decades long career of teaching.  His legacy will live on!  I have so many fond memories of growing up over the years and hanging out with my family on Friday nights after my parents got off of work. Milton playing records or VHS tapes for my brother and I while the adults all caught up on the week's activities.  Many summers helping him to prepare his classroom for the next year, laughing about how bad or good the Bucs were playing that year or just sharing one of our best pastimes of family gatherings on the weekends and eating pizza, roast beef,  and mini cuban sandwiches.   There is nothing I can type here to truly summarize how I feel or how much he will be missed, but I do know that he is pain free now and with our loved ones that have gone before for.  It's not often that when someone moves to the next phase of life, that they leave such a big hole in people's hearts, but it's even more rare to think of someone and instantly be able to smile.   This is not a goodbye Uncle Milton, but an "Until We Meet Again"!   

My brother you were such a great man. You touched so many lives with kindness compassion, understanding and love. You will truly be missed. I know for sure our lives will never be the same without you here. You will always be in my heart. You showed me what true strength is. I will miss you for the rest of my life. You treated me with respect and love and for that I thank you. You always showed true love to April and James. They have lost a great Uncle, friend.  A kind soul.  R.I.P. my brother. Until we meet again.

 We always had each other no matter what…..

You were an excellent teacher that  gave my kids a love f history and civics.  I always heard about your lessons with excitement  and joy.  As  an educator you touched so many lives and we are the better for it.  We will miss you!

If only the world had more Milton Jacksons, it would be a kinder, gentler place to live.  I considered Milton my first mentor.  I was lucky enough to be assigned to him as a pre-intern through USF (Into. to Teaching) back in 1985-ish.  Watching Milton teach was truly inspiring.  He made connection with kids and was able to make learning fun but had high expectations.  I know every child felt free to express themselves in his classroom.  He is the reason why I am an educator.  I went on to become a School Counselor.  Our worlds connected again when he was hired on at Adams Middle School.  I couldn’t wait to work with him.  What a privilege!  All of us that worked together at Adams during those years still have a special connection.  And there isn’t a single person who didn’t respect him professionally and love him just a little like family.  That continued at Coleman.  My only regret is that I left the same year he joined that crew, “Adams South.”  
If I could be half the person and educator Milton was, my life will be full.  The rippling effect he has had on thousands of children, coworkers, parents, and of course family members will surely last for years to come.  He is irreplaceable.  There will forever be a gap - those big shoes - that just can’t be filled.  Heaven got a good one.  He will truly be missed.  He is what a legacy looks like.  Rest easy Milton.
