Mildred “Mill” Louise Wonders, 83, was born in Streator, Illinois on September 05, 1930. She entered Heaven on June 04, 2014. A devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Mildred was an excellent cook and baker. She was well known for her Christmas gifts of home-made candies and cookies. She learned these talents from her Norwegian mother and grandmother before her. She also enjoyed all the old Westerns and romantic classics of her era as in “Gone with the Wind”. She enjoyed quilting. She and her husband made quilts especially for each child and grandchild in the family. Her family valued education, as her grandfather was at the top of the LaSalle County education system. She passed this passion for knowledge on to her five children. Mildred was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Cecil L. Wonders. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Teresa M. Wonders Blostichak, her three brothers, Albert, Robert and George Melvin and her sister Marie Melvin McCurdy and their spouses. Mildred is survived by her children, Judith L. Dawson (Bill), Steven R. Wonders (Jill), Donald E. Wonders (Davina) and Tina L. Wonders. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Donald, Christopher and Ericka Wonders and Meagan Abbott. She had five great-grandchildren, Mea, Xain, Korvin and Ari Wonders and Jerry Wilkerson. Her daughter-in-law Davina Wonders, lovingly cared for her the last year of her life. Her son Don and Davina provided her every comfort and fulfilled the family promise made to her that she would always be in her home until her last day. The family thanks them and others who gave their assistance to help them bring this promise to fruition. A memorial service will be held, 3 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel, Temple Terrace. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
