LOOMIS, Mildred Mook Rase “Mickey” passed away April 14, 2017. Know to her many friends as “Mickey” or “Mil Ann,” she was born in Tampa, January 14, 1928 to James A. and Mildred McTeer Mook. She was a student at Roosevelt Elementary, Wilson Middle, and graduated fromPlant High School in 1946. She attended Florida State University and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. After college, Mickey was a writer for The Tampa Daily Times and later taught kindergarten, second, and fourth grade. She was active in volunteer organizations including The Junior League of Tampa, The H.B. Plant Museum Society, and the Berkeley Blazers. She was a member of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church and The Azalea Garden Club. Cooking was like a hobby for Mickey and she enjoyed entertaining family and friends with her ‘secret’ recipes. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Albert M. Loomis;son, Michael Rase of Tampa; sister, Lillian Mandyck of Atlanta,GA; nieces, Maura Mandyck of Mobile, AL and Kathleen Perry (Charles) of Atlanta, GA; stepdaughters, Lynn Fluharty (Stephen) of Tampa and Martha Pfefferman (Mark) of Glen Ellyn,IL; stepson, Mark Loomis (Maggie) of Toronto, Canada; step grandsons, Thomas Fluharty (Kelly), Matthew Fluharty, Matthew Loomis, Josh Loomis, Matthew Pfefferman, and Mitchell Pfefferman; and step great-granddaughters, Parker and Brett Fluharty. She was predeceased by her first husband, Albert E. Rase Jr. The family would like to thank Estelle Lopez and the entire staff of Abigail House for the wonderful care Mickey has received during the last five years. Contributions may be made to the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church General Fund. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, April 22nd, at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, 3501 W. San Jose St., Tampa, FL 33629, followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall.
