Michael Jacobson

JACOBSON, Michael, 46, of Wesley Chapel passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, October 25, 2014. Born in St. Petersburg, FL in 1968, he attended Blanton Elementary until moving to Akron, OH in 1978. A 1986 graduate of Akron’s East High School, Mike returned to St. Petersburg where he began his life-long career in law enforcement, beginning with the Gulf Port Police department in 1987. He joined the Clearwater Police department the following year, and served that community for seven years, until joining the Tampa Police department in 1995, where he was currently a Master Patrol Officer. Mike enjoyed traveling, catching movies, working out at the gym, sampling fine foods, and considered himself an honorary citizen of Pittsburgh as an avid Steelers fan. Most of all, Mike enjoyed people always. He went out of his way to help when he could, and brought humor to every moment of life. An endless stream of funny stories envelop the tears we shed today. Mike was preceded in death by grandfather Eugene W. Jacobson and father Jon R. Jacobson. He is survived by wife Arlene and sons Austin (7) and Hunter (1); grandmother Alice Long, mother Treva (Dan) Lance, In-laws Pamela and Al Imeh, brother Rick (Jan) Jacobson, sister Joann (Gary) Kirsch, sisters-in-law Ashley & Amber Imeh, aunts Pegoty (Rich) Packman and Paula (Bill) Morris, uncles John (Nina) Robishaw, George (Rhea) Robishaw, nieces Melissa (Mark) Trew, Rachel (Ethan) Schenck, Jessica Jacobson, great nephews Carter & Owen Trew, cousins Scott Robishaw, Wendy Robishaw, Matt Robishaw, Steven Robishaw, Christy (Steve) Steagall and best squad partner and friend, Bobby (Joanie) Tambo. While cremation plans have been made, family will receive friends and condolences Thursday evening, October 30, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00pm at the Blount & Curry Funeral, Home-Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Avenue, Tampa. A memorial service will be held at the same location on Friday October 31, 2014, at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael Jacobson Memorial Fund at GTE Credit Union.
