Michael James Hargis

Loved by all who knew him, Michael Hargis passed away on the morning of December 15, 2022. He was 50 years old and lived in Tampa, FL. He is survived by his father, James Hargis; his sister, Lori Ossi

and her husband Danny Ossi; children, Demi and Drew and step father, John Wright. He will be reunited with those who preceded him, his mother, Inez Hargis and other family and friends.

Michael was Born in Lakeland, FL. in 1972. He moved with his parents to San Antonio, Texas when he was 3 months old where they resided for less than a year before returning to in Tampa in 1974.

Michael graduated from Chamberlain High Schools' ESE program in 1991 and attended classes at Brewster Technical College. He competed in track & field events for Special Olympic local chapters.

He was a loyal employee of 28 years for Kash N Karry, SweetBay & Winn Dixie and his free time was spent with his family, friends & his pets.

Michael was an avid sports fan who supported all of the Tampa Bay teams. He was the biggest fan of college football and the Wisconsin Badgers. If Michael wasn’t watching sports on TV he was reading about them. On Monday & Friday nights he was cheering on his favorite Pro Wrestlers in the WWE.

Michael was a foodie and enjoyed his mothers, aunt’s and grandmother's southern cooking but never turned down an opportunity to go out to eat at local restaurants.

The Holidays were Michael's favorite time of year! He loved celebrating every one of them, especially Christmas, birthdays and Super Bowls.

Being on the water boating or swimming in the ocean or pool made him happy. Michael loved all animals, domestic or wild, but had a real love for reptiles. Maggie, his pet ball python has been with him for over 30 years.

Your kind and gentle, smiling spirit will be with us forever. You will always be the best brother and son anyone could ask for.

A visitation for Michael will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Blount & Curry FH-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618. A committal service will occur Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Highway 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
