Michael was born in Boston on June 18th, 1935. His life was full. He married the love of his life on February 24th, 1961 and loved her every moment of her life. He touched lives and hearts in every aspect of his life. He made a difference, both in his personal life, and as a Registered Physical Therapist. In everything he did, he never hesitated to go the extra mile with a bright smile. He was truly kind, always had a sly joke, and when he spoke everyone knew to pay attention. He will always be a man cherished and remembered with love.
Mike is likely dancing now with his true love of over 55 years, Judy Gertz, on their next grand adventure. Mike Gertz’s big heart lives on in his children: Mark (and Leigh Ann), Lynda (and Larry), and Karen (and Travis), and his grandchildren Katie and Jessie, Gary and Max. His heart also beats in his great grandchild, Lynaea.
His sister Ann holds a big corner of his heart and he treasured her. His nieces and nephews Lorin, Jody, and Steve, as well as his huge extended family stretching from Boston to Chicago will remember him well.
His legacy is one of love, laughter, adventure, and living life to the fullest. He traveled the world, saw countless shows, and was an avid music lover.
“Mr. Mike” was beloved everywhere he went, had a Mr. Mike’s walking club, and was always the first to start dancing.
