He was born on October 5th, 1953, in Tampa, Florida.
Michael was preceded in death by his loving parents, grandparents, a sister and great niece. He is survived and greatly missed by several members of his adoring family and an abundance of friends who were like family. Michael was (and is still) always surrounded by love.
Michael honorably served in the United States Navy from 1973-1975. In the years that followed, he found professional success in management and sales across several industries. Of most note, Michael received the African American Achievers Award in 1997 for his leadership as Director of Operations at the I.M Sulzbacher Center - an organization that years earlier helped Michael get back on his feet. He believed in "paying it forward" before that was even a thing.
After that, Michael continued to pay it forward, volunteering much of his time at the American Legion where he proudly continued his service through flag retirement ceremonies, community outreach and countless events. It was through the Legion that Michael met some of his favorite people.
Michael loved all things Tampa. His happiest days were spent on the open waters fishing or hitting the links to golf. He was a diehard Bucs Fan, bled orange and blue, and on Saturday mornings, he was in the bleachers, serving as his favorite little league baseball player's biggest fan.
Michael was incredibly proud of his Cuban heritage. The love he had for the ones closest to him, could best be described as "loud". Whether it was a joke, a cup of Cafe con Leche, a hug, an encouraging message when it was needed most, a shared meal, or just his big, bright smile, his big Cuban heart shone thru every action of his life. He often said "I can't help it, I'm Cuban! Everything I do is loud." His loud love will resonate in his loved one's hearts forever.
