Mercedes Cano Sanchez (Mercy), 98 years old, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2023. She is survived by her children, Michael (Linda) Sanchez and Melinda (Bill) Dickens, in addition to her grandchildren, Zenia (James) Jackson, Danielle (Josh) Marazzito, Katie Sanchez, Cooper Dickens, Sam Sanchez, and Mattie Sanchez, as well as four great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Armando Sanchez, her son, Mitchell Sanchez as well as her parents and siblings.
Mercy was a native of Tampa, Florida and attended Hillsborough High School. She was the owner and operator of Rainbowland Day Nursery for more than twenty-five years. If success is measured by how many lives you touch, Mercy was beyond successful. Her presence exuded compassion and unconditional love. Her energy surpassed and exceeded everyone around her (“Go while you can”). She embodied life to its fullest, each and every day. She was happiest spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, dancing or just enjoying a good cookout of crab enchilau. The lessons she taught us and the memories that were created will remain forever within us. She will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, please pay it forward, perform an act of kindness or simply make a donation to your favorite charity.
Celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday, March 7th, from 6-8 pm at Blount and Curry, 605 South MacDill Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33609.
