MARTINEZ, Mercedes Salinero 93,passed away December 22,2016 in St. Petersburg,FL. Born November 6, 1923 in Tampa, FL, she was the daughter of Antonio and Eva Salinero. Mercedes worked as a comptroller for Wonder Bread Bakery for many years. She was a beloved wife, mother, abuela, sister, and aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Herman Martinez as well as three siblings, Tony, Stella, and George. Mercedes is survived by her son, Dr. Richard Martinez (Margaret D. Martinez); four grandchildren, Michael, Julie, Joe, and Katie; as well as six siblings, Orlando, Luva, Gloria, Marie, Sevia, and Louis. The family wishes to extend a very special thanks to the staff of Arden Court, where she was a longtime resident, Bon Secour Maria Manor, Lifepath Hospice, and Suncoast Hospice for the excellent care they have provided. A visitation will take place Tuesday, December 27, 3-5 pm, at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
