Abreu, Melvin “Alex”, 46 of Tampa, passed away suddenly on August 13, 2015. He was loved by all who had the good fortune to know him. Alex was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Brooklyn, NY. After college, he lived in Atlanta, GA before settling in the Tampa area in 2004. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Albany in 1992, a Masters degree in forensic psychology from Argosy University in 2012, and in 2013, he became a Certified Addiction Professional, an accreditation he earned at the University of South Florida. Alex proudly worked for the Agency for Community Treatment Services (ACTS), providing substance abuse and mental health services to homeless veterans. Alex is survived by his loving family; daughter, Alexi Abreu; parents, Victor and Maria Abreu; brother, Victor Abreu, Jr. and sister in-law, Dana Cook; sister, Patricia Fenimore, and brother in-law, William Fenimore; and his nieces and nephews, Julian Abreu, Lucas Abreu, Nolan Fenimore and Isabella Fenimore. Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering from 4-9 pm, Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Blount & Curry West Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Dr. Tampa. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Incarnation Catholic Church (corner of Webb Rd. & Hillsborough Ave.) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alex's memory to: ACTS, Transitional Housing and Veteran Services (Drew Park), 4403 W.
