Mary B. Miano passed away at home on Monday, October 3, 2022 in Tampa, Florida at the age of 92 with three of her children at her bedside. Married 53 years, she was the widow of the late Joseph Paul Miano.
The daughter of the late Harry and Blanche (Dupont) Near she was born in Manhattan, NY on May 14, 1930.
Mary is survived by six of her eight children: daughter Linda Dickman and husband Bill of Cuddebackville, NY, son Jeffrey Miano of Tampa, Fl., daughter Laurie Emmens of Swan Lake, NY., daughter Janice Miano of Bullville, NY, daughter Dr. Tina Mason and husband Dr. David Mason of Tampa, Fl., and son Joe Miano Jr. of Tampa, Fl. She is survived by 11 grandchildren: Melissa Miano, Janine Dickman, Craig Dickman, Amy Miano, Brett Miano, Brent Miano, Vanessa Kelder, Stefanie Hill, David Mason, Antonia Mason, and Michael Mason as well as three great grandchildren: Oakley Kelder, Juliet Dickman and Carter Dickman. She is pre-deceased in death by husband Joseph Paul Miano, son Douglas Miano of Miami, Fl., and daughter Pamela Miano of Bloomingburg, NY.
She is survived by two sisters Irene Stablein, and Kathleen Scifo, her cat Jackson, and longtime nightly phone companions Bill Koenig and his daughter Edna Fedun of Yankee Lake, NY.
Mary was an accomplished artisan whose talents ranged from the forgotten art of chair caning, painting, and jewelry design (to name but a few) with many of her friends the recipients of her pieces. She was nimble with a needle, crafting quilts, clothing, and anything that involved fabric, thread, or yarn. As some may say she “was mad talented”. She was a generous and independent individual who loved children and her family.
