Mary Ellen’s passion for all things art led her to the Cambridge School of Design, in Cambridge, MA, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts. After she graduated, her drive and love of art continued wherein she earned the unique position as an Arts and Crafts Director with the Special Services of the United States Army where she found herself teaching our soldiers in Germany. Besides art, another love came into Mary Ellen’s life while she lived in Germany. It just so happened to be her husband John, who survives her. They met in Germany and eventually moved to Tampa where they were married for over 55 years.
Mary Ellen had found success with her creative works, having been featured in regional and national well known and popular museums, galleries, schools and art shows. Mary Ellen remained dedicated to various organizations and sororities to share her adoration of art in other directions. Her latest passion involving art was in her role as an art teacher for children with disabilities, where she treasured her ability to share her aspiration of art with the children.
As if art and her beloved husband weren’t enough to keep Mary Ellen busy, anyone that knew her saw her true success was raising her three daughters Maureen, Caroline, and Kathleen who survive her and all as John says have her “Strength”.
Her Catholic faith was something that didn’t just carry her through life but she also used it to carry others in the various volunteer roles in which she served.
To know Mary Ellen was to never forget her and always love her. Besides her husband and beautiful daughters, Mary Ellen is survived by her daughter’s husbands Matt Radeck (Maureen), Rob Buster (Caroline) and Ed Harris(Kathleen) and her grandchildren Freya and Parish.
