Mrs. Mary Maxine Mann Culver was born July 31, 1930, to the late Bennie Mann and Dora Leonard Mann in Louisburg, North Carolina. Mary was educated in the public schools of Trenton, New Jersey. Her love for healthy living led her into the nursing field where she enriched and touched the lives of many for over 30 years. Mary lived a life of servitude. She took great delight in organizing Thanksgiving dinners for the St. George, South Carolina community for numerous years. Her loving outreach extended beyond healthcare and nutrition as she spent countless hours crafting quilts in the Senior Centers. Her boundless energies were also expended for fashioning blankets for premature babies in the neonatal units.
She was dedicated to Christ’s call on her life. Her loyalty in church functions was admired by many. She is noted for organizing nursing units and conducting seminars for maintaining healthy living. Her internal motivation was expressed through her love for the Lord, praising Him, and devouring scriptural truths in daily Bible reading. She found that her time loving God and serving her churches were as essential as drinking water and eating. Beauty and style are passions she embraced through collections of refined jewelry.
Her children rose up and called her “B-L-E-S-S-E-D” (Brilliant Loving Elegant Serene Saintly Exquisite Dedicated). Collegiality, compassion, and commitment are three of the descriptions given by those with whom she interacted. We are all inspired by her generosity, vision, and perseverance. We celebrate the life of this woman, who meant so much to, and did so much for so many people!
She was preceded in death by: her parents; Husband-James Culver, Sr.; Daughter- Caroline Culver; Son-Stephen Culver; Sisters-Louise Williams, Clara Davis, Annie Hayes, Lela Broadus, and Shirley Small; Brothers-Charles Mann and Arthur Mann.
