HINTON, Marie Jean, 91, peacefully passed away July 22, 2021. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Ruth Cravens and Frank Hall. Marie and her husband Iley, were the owners of Skate Odyssey in Tampa, Florida, a popular skating rink that many children knew as home away from home, for over 40 Years.
Marie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She loved children, her dogs, ice cream, Wendy burgers, and watching the Miami Dolphins. Later in life she was known as "The Walker Lady" at Lake Padgett Estates. She walked miles every day.
She is preceded in death by son Iley Gaines Hinton, husband Iley Gilbert Hinton, daughter, Mary Cecilia Hinton. Marie is survived by sons, Dennis Hinton, Paul Hinton; grandsons that she raised as sons, Michael Johnson and Jonathan Johnson; granddaughters, Melissa Samuelson, Kristen Roberson, Jamie Melhorn, Ashley Hinton, Heaven Gower, Kailey Maness; numerous great grandchildren, extended family and many friends from the roller skating family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Blount and Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa 12 p.m. - 1:45 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2021 with a 2 p.m., Graveside Service at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa.
