To the family, may God provide you comfort in knowing Maria is in a better place and God is too wise to make a mistake. No more pain and sorrow.  I remember Maria as a compassionate case manager. She cared deeply about the welfare of the children. Our job working with the Foster Care System was not an easy task but Maria was a trooper and never gave up on the children she worked with. She will be missed. Take your rest Maria, you have earned your wings.

Luly, I will forever hold you in my heart. Thanks for all the laughs you gave me, for all the conversations we shared, for "las galletitas de limó " that I will never forget.  Thank you for trusting me with your beautiful daughter Andrea. I will never forget our time at the hospital when she was born.   Now, we say goodbye, but our love will be kept alive always, because you are too important, too good, too strong, to forget.  We will always see the same moon.  Love you forever.

My sista Maria, 
I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to call you sista.  Your friendship, sense of humor, and compassion for life will always be a part of me.  From you I learned how to help some of the most vulnerable in our society "children "  I learn to advocate, protect and love on them.  Once I left child welfare you taught me how to bead.  We spent many hours making jewelry, eating and oh yes laughing.   We laughed alot girl I am going to miss that the most.  No more texting or funny emojis that we would share with each other.   But many, many great memories will remain with me forever.  

To the Satter and Pino family,  I want you to know she left the world a better place.  I pray God comforts you during this very painful time.

When I was informed of Maria's passing, my first reaction was a sense of emptiness.  My life, was somehow less, knowing I would not see her again in this life.  
Maria was the first senior counselor I met when I started working for HRS.  I learned the tasks associated with child welfare from our supervisor; I learned the emotions from Maria, and I was richer as a result of the sense of purpose and the meaning it gave to my life.  How do you say good-bye to someone who was there with you when you learned the extremes of depression, caregiver cruelty, need, joy and so many other lessons of life.  Maria had the ability to sense the needs of those around her and was usually the first to offer a hug, sympathy...and a congratulatory comment on those rare occasions when a coworker experienced joy and a sense of accomplishment.  She chose the most difficult profession I have ever known and gave it her best, an example few others matched.  Our world is made less by her departure.  
Heaven's welcome gain is only made possible by the loss of all who knew you. RIP...You will not be easily replaced in this life.

It’s all about how you live, why you live and the manner in which you live. 

We all are in great distress because we cannot see you in the physical but your sweet spirit will live through us forever.
 



I worked with Maria when she interned at HRS.  She was very passionate and caring with the families she worked with.  I knew Maria when she fell in love with her husband. I knew Maria when she was pregnant with her children. She was so happy to be a mother. I knew Maria when she worked very hard to advance her career in child welfare. Although we may have lost touch after I left the child welfare field,  I always remember her smile and spirit.  I hope her family and friends find comfort. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. 

Maria you are missed so very much. I thank God for knowing you and working with you. Not only were you a coworker but you were a mentor, supporter, and like a mother.  You treated me as family, you listened and offered advice when needed. At CHS, at Devereux, you always listened. No matter if I needed to vent about work, my personal life, or if I was feeling homesick, I could always come to you. I will never forget when you filled your candy jar with smarties because I told you how much I liked them, or the next time you bought lance vanilla creme cookies and told me where your stash was in case you weren’t in your office. I will miss you and Carmen bickering (it didn’t happen often) but then 5 minutes later you two would talk about beading on the weekends, and I couldn’t wait to see what you both had made. There’s so many memories of you. We’re all hurting and miss you so much but God needed you much more. You’re no longer in pain and no longer tired (although we would have never known because you always had a beautiful smile). I always talked to you about my grandparents and now you get to meet them. Rest in Heaven Maria, you’re forever in my heart

I miss you so much my dear friend.  Thank you for being such a wonderful boss and friend.  You loved what you did and you went out of your way to do the right thing for others. Our team was a family because you treated us like one of your own.  I always looked forward coming to work because I knew i would be seeing you in your office. No matter what was going on if I needed to talk you would stop and pay attention to whatever crazy thing that came out of my mouth. Thank you for keeping me sane . I’m only glad I made you laugh with all my crazy ideas. Work will never be the same without you. The world will be empty without you here. Although I feel I am just having a bad dream. I know deep down God had other plans for you. I am only happy you are not in pain anymore.  I’m so grateful you were put in my path. It was a honor to have you as a friend.

I will never forget working with you. We had a hard job to do, but no matter what, you were always cheerful and supportive. I have never met someone that was as positive as you even in the darkest moments.  You will be missed.
