Luz was born October 12, 1932 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico.
We are gathered to celebrate the life of Luz Reyes a loving wife and a great mom. She was deeply loved and cared for by her husband Eduardo Reyes, dad. Dad was always there by her side until out Lord called her home. She is now in heaven with her son Joe Velez whom she had to say good bye to several years earlier.
Our mom can be described as kind, loving, unassuming and always welcoming. Mom loved to laugh and enjoy life. Her biggest joy was her family. Mom never questioned when she was needed, she would drop everything for any of her children and it didn’t matter how big or small the request she was there.
Mom enjoyed her time with her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom would have loved more time with then all.
Mom and I would spend late nights at the kitchen table sharing sleepy time tea, here is where she would share with me that she wanted more time to simply talk with all her children, but unfortunately this did not happen.
Mom had difficulties speaking toward the end but she never lost her sense of humor. She loved to see our expressions when she wanted to be moved from chair to chair simply because she knew we would do it.
Mom loved her Sunday evenings when family friends came to the house for worship and time singing hymes. She would tried to sing and when she couldn’t she would smile and tap her hand that was out way of knowing she was happy so happy in those moments.
Mom impacted our lives in a way that words can not express, her family was her greatest accomplishment. In our moments together mom always took that opportunity to tell me how she loved ALL of her children and would have loved to tell them individually , mom was so proud of the people we became, she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren she would smile when she was told of the number of grand and great grandchildren she had, mom would have loved to spend time with them all but our time here is short. It is important that they know she loved even if she did not get to meet them individually.
And on behalf of mom I believe it is very important that ALL of mom’s children know, she never stopped loving each of you and she always spoke of wanting more time with you ALL.

John 16:32-33
32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
