She graduated from Chamberlin High School in 1959, where she met her high school sweetheart, Harlis. After high school, she then went on to the University of Tampa, where she graduated with a master’s degree in education.
Louise was a first-grade teacher in the Hillsborough County Public School System for over thirty years. She taught at Dickenson and Belle Witter Elementary Schools. After retiring, she continued her love of teaching, but instead of children, she taught handbells at multiple churches, workshops, and bell festivals. She created the concept of the bell tree and composed many musical pieces. Louise was inducted into the Handbell Association of America as an honorary life membership award recipient in 2017.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harlis Andrew Frier; parents James & Iola Hipp; four brothers-in-law: Edward McCreary; Donald Harrison; Charles Frier and wife, Mary; and Samuel Frier and wife, Margaret. She is survived by her son: Scott Frier and wife, Monica, and granddaughter Stephanie Frier; son Nathan Frier and grandchildren, Sierra, Cody, and Hunter Frier; sisters Joanne McCreary and Sandy Harrison; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service for Louise will be held Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, 2902 W Fletcher Ave, Tampa, FL 33618.
