At 81 years young, Loretta Rose went home to Jesus on Thursday April 11,2024.
Though with us for 81 wonderful years, it’s always too soon to say goodbye to such a beautiful soul.
Born to Ellie and Georgia Glisson on October 2, 1942, Loretta was 1 of 7 siblings (5 sisters and 1 bother).
Mother to 3 sons, Terry and spouse Cheryl Gracie, Kevin Escribano and spouse Rene Wagner and Jason Escribano and spouse Kristine Glenz.
Granny to Elizabeth and spouse Maik Tessmann, Ryon and spouse Colleen Gracie and Nichole Gracie and fiancé Alec Gomez. Great-granny to Caylin, Emma and Connor.
She was also a mother to her 4 legged baby, Abbygail. Abby was her companion and support through many tough times. Abbygail will surely miss her momma, but has found a new home with Loretta’s son Terry whom she already loves.
Her greatest joy in life was her “babies”, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren (though not all babies anymore). She loved them with her whole heart and they truly reciprocated that love for their granny. They carry on many memories of time spent at granny’s house, on the porch swing or helping her water the garden.
Her second greatest joy was gardening. Loretta and Art’s yard was always filled with flowers, butterflies and pineapples (but those were Art’s). She never could wait for spring time, her favorite time to get her hands in the dirt (although she participated in “dirt therapy” throughout the year).
She may have been 81, but she certainly wasn’t “old” and she would definitely let you know. She maintained her youth, often telling us “that’s for old people and I’m not old”. She was a perfect example of “you’re only as old as you feel”.
She was adored by many, anyone who met her was sure to love her. Best known for her infectious laugh and silly personality, she taught us not to take life too seriously. She showed us what true strength is and taught us that you truly can do anything you put your mind to.
She rejoins her beloved Arthur, who left us just 8 months ago. They loved each other dearly, we know he has been waiting on the front porch for her with coffee in hand.
Finally reunited with Momma and Daddy, brother Harvey and sister Carolyn in eternal peace.
A funeral service will be held 12 noon on Monday, April 22, 2024 at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Immediate following the service, a graveside will take place at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa.
Flowers and condolences can be sent to Blount & Curry Funeral home Carrollwood at 3207 W Bearss Ave Tampa 33618
