WATSON, Loraine Seijas, 55, passed away on August 1, 2014 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. It broke our hearts to lose you so unexpectedly, but you did not go alone. Part of us went with you and undoubtedly you will live on in our hearts here on earth.
Loraine was a native of Tampa, FL but spent the last 20+ years living in Gainesville. Loraine was a graduate of the Academy of Holy Names High School. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and was a true Gator fan. In addition, her studies towards a Masters in Psychology were done at the University of Central Florida. Loraine dedicated her professional career to mental health counseling, predominately in the Florida state prison system. As a counselor, she administered psychological testing, provided counseling services to inmates, and kept the proper documentation essential to track the offenders’ progress in their rehabilitation plan.
Loraine was predeceased by her father, Emilio R Seijas. She is survived by her mother, Angelina Huerta Seijas; her lifetime partner of over 17 years, Mike Fitzgerald; her sister Marlene Seijas Gregory; and her niece, Nicole Gregory.
A visitation will take place from 5PM to 8PM on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Gonzalez Funeral Home. A funeral service will then be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 10AM at the funeral home with interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
