He was 81 at his passing on June 29, 2015 in Marietta, GA.
LeeRoy was a 1951 graduate of Hillsbourgh High School where he excelled in track, and he attended the University of Florida
where he deepened his love for the Fighting Florida Gators prior to serving honorably in the United States Marine Corps
during the Korean War.
After his military service, he enjoyed a long career as a salesman in his father’s wholesale liquor business, and subsequently
went into the retail end, owning a package store and lounge in the Brandon, FL. He also spent many years of his career working
in the automobile wholesale business. In 2012 he moved to Marietta, GA to be with his family.
He is survived by his three children; Caprice and her husband Duane Riopelle, Macel Nelson, and LeeRoy Fernandez III. Also
surviving are his two sisters and their husbands, Telie and Leslie Drane, Jr. and Bebe and Jim Andrews, a grandson Bradley Riopelle and
a granddaughter Brynn Riopelle along with many other family members. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, LeeRoy Fernandez, Sr. and Dolly Cercy Fernandez.
LeeRoy Fernandez Jr.’s life will be honored with a Graveside Service held at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 11:00 am.
Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior, 10:00 am - 11:00 am, at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home 4207 E Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33610.
Pallbearers honored to serve include Peter Cortes, Leslie Drane Jr., Leslie Drane III, Earnest (Cookie) Garcia, Daniel Noland, Duane Riopelle,
Bradley Riopelle, and Joseph Valenti.
