Lee Oma Russell Moss, 78, died peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2022, under hospice care at AdventHealth: Tampa, Florida; after complications due to ovarian cancer.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Lee enjoyed reading, crafting, teaching, gardening, watching sporting events, and all things Disney.
Lee attended Plant High School in Tampa and later graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelors of Arts degree in English Education. She taught for a short time at Hillsborough High School, choosing to be a stay-at-home mom when her first child was born.
Lee was Mom to the neighborhood, welcoming everyone into her home; chaperoning for school trips, and costuming the twirlers and drumline at Chamberlain High School.
Her commitment to Scouting began in childhood, extending to camp counseling as a young adult and eventually Troop Leader and Trainer. She led Brownie, Junior, and Cadet Troops in the Carrollwood area, mentoring a generation of strong, gifted women.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest Lee Russell and Minnie Oma Smith Russell; her brother, David Wayne Russell; and her husband, Kent Evan Moss, all of Tampa.
She is survived by her daughters: Lisa Degrenia (Edward) and Lori Moss; granddaughters: Elyse Degrenia Grossman (Sam) and Laura Degrenia Serrano (Kevin); and, great-granddaughter Lily Grossman.
A graveside funeral will take place Monday, December 5, 2022, at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4228 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida.
