Judith Madeline Shaw, 79, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on April 5 in her home in Original Carrollwood, Tampa. She was born in Montreal, Canada to Pat and Edith Hannah in August 1943. Her parents were Florida "snowbirds" and she had family roots and grew up in both Vermont and Bradenton, Florida. She graduated from Bradenton High School and went on to earn a BA in Education from the University of Florida, where she was a lifelong Gator and obtained a Master’s Degree in education from Golden Gate University.
In 1966, Judy married her college sweetheart, Thomas J. Shaw, who was a pilot in the U.S. Airforce. Together, they had two sons, Tommy and Patrick and four grandchildren, Jonathan, Megan, Griffin, and Sam. Judy and Tom's home was always the center of action for children, grandchildren, and their network of friends. Judy was never one to sit idly by and was always organizing kid projects, baking cookies, tending to her yard, or looking for hidden gems at local antique and consignment stores.
Judy will always be remembered as an avid gardener, passionate about antiques and a collectibles expert. Her home was filled with beautiful flowers and plants and she had an incredible eye for spotting treasures wherever she went. She valiantly battled Parkinson's disease for over 23 years, but she never let it slow her down.
Judy was preceded in death by her infant son Brian who passed away in 1971, husband Tom, who passed in May 2015, as well as her siblings, Duncan Hannah and Norma "Pudge" Ruby. She is survived by her two sons Tommy and Patrick, her grandchildren Jonathan, Megan, Griffin, and Sam, and her older brother, Peter Hanna.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the USF Movement Disorders Center in Judy's name (https://giving.usf.edu/online/gift/f/250001/). Judy will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched.
