It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Judith Marie (Judy) Meyers Houtz, 83, on December 24th, 2023. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones. Judy is now reunited with her husband Larry, brother Jim, and son Dale, as well as many family and friends.
Judy grew up in Rutledge, PA. She met her soon to be husband Larry as a young woman. After they were married, he joined the Air Force, and soon had a growing family - they had four children born in four different states! They eventually settled in Florida to raise their children. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband Larry, and a devoted mother to her children Dale, Michael, Belinda, and Keith.
Judy dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. With Larry always by her side, she excelled at supporting her family through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Judy went to band concerts, dance recitals, Boy Scout meetings, picked up kids from school, and whatever was necessary to help. She loved to keep busy by cleaning and would happily sweep her own or any of her children’s homes! She made it her life’s purpose to be a part of her family's lives.
Judy was an avid reader, music lover, and when she wasn’t galivanting after children or grandchildren she could be found in her garden. She had a green thumb and lovingly tended her flowers and plants, which were always in full bloom. If all that wasn’t enough, in her free time she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.
Judy was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her quiet demeanor and warm personality.
Judy is survived by her children Michael (Patty) Houtz, Belinda Houtz Krauss, Keith (Isabel) Houtz; grandchildren Rachael (Danny) Light, Michael Houtz Jr., Alex Houtz, Lindsey Krauss, Eric Houtz, Nicholas Krauss; great grandchildren Colten Houtz, Adam Light and Dean Light. All of whom will miss her dearly.
Rest in peace, dear Mother. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
