Judith Julia Bissen

Judy was born in Montague, MI to William and Ruby Buller on April 14, 1940. She attended Montague High School and continued her education, graduating from Western Michigan University. Judy married her high school sweetheart, Richard Michael Bissen, August 18, 1961 in Muskegon, MI. They moved to the Detroit area for a short time then settled in Tampa in 1970. Following her passion for children, she worked for over 30 years as an educator. Judy was exceptional with children and had a tremendous impact on many young children’s lives. After retiring from teaching, she then worked at Walmart for 15 years in the fabrics-and-crafts department. Judy also enjoyed meeting people through her passion of selling Avon products for over 20 years.

Judy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Bissen, parents William and Ruby Buller, sister Donna Whiddon, and brothers-in-law, Jack Bissen, Bill Bissen and Wayne Henderson, and sister-in-law Denise Todd.

She is survived by her three sons, Bill, Rick (Dawn), Derek and her two grandchildren, Josh and Lexi, great-grandson Bryce. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Bissen, of Michigan; brother-in-law, Tony Whiddon and his and Donna’s family, of Florida; brother-in-law Randy Todd and his family, of Michigan.

Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. She was a devout Christian and was always involved with the church. She loved sharing the joy of music through the church Bell Choir, playing cards, traveling and spending her weekends dancing with friends. She will be missed by all those whose lives she blessed.

Memorial services will be held 1PM, Saturday March 25, 2023 at Messiah Lutheran Church of Tampa, located at 14920 Hutchison Rd, Tampa, FL 33625. Service will be performed by Pastor Mark Adrian.
