Juanita Bautista Ortiz

Juanita was born in Cidra to Santiago Luna and Juana Rivera on May 28, 1930. She married Andrés Ortiz on December 31, 1946 at Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Cidra. She worked for many years alongside her husband, Andrés, at their business, Andy’s Restaurant in Brooklyn, NY. Her greatest achievement was raising her five children with love, strength, and dignity.

Juanita is preceded in death by her husband Andrés Ortiz, her sons, José and Robert, her sisters Maria and Cruz, her brothers, Domingo and Santiago Jr., and her grandsons Michael and Jake.

Juanita is survived by her children, Agnes and husband Kevin, Eddie and wife Cora , Sonia and life partner Mike, her siblings, Norberto, Heriberto, and Isabel, her grandchildren Anthony, Andreas and wife Kawanna, Sherisse and husband Sam, Maria and wife Sarah, Alexis, Joseph and wife Tiffany, Louis and wife Virginia, and her great-grandchildren Liliana, Gianna, Arianna, Aidan, and Logan. She also will be dearly missed by her many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 4, 2024 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery in Hackensack, NJ. Arrangements are by Gonzalez Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers and memorials, please donate to your local church in Juanita’s name.
