Juan Antonio Montero was born on July 12th, 1929, in Havana, Cuba, to Juan and Elena Montero. He spent his early life in Havana and later attended the University of Havana, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He met the love of his life, Evangelina, and they were married on December 6th, 1958. On August 22nd, 1967, Juan relocated his family to Los Angeles, California, in hopes of escaping the Castro regime and give his family a better life. Shortly after, the family relocated again to Tampa, Florida, where Juan worked for GTE as an electrical engineer for 25 years. In 1992, Juan retired and spent the rest of his years traveling with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren. When he wasn't away on vacation or keeping a watchful eye on his grandchildren, Juan enjoyed reading, cooking, debating politics, volunteering for the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, and attending church with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Evangelina Montero, his son, Juan Montero and his wife Marta, and his two daughters, Maria Giral and her husband Jose, Rosa Dressander and her husband Kirk. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Alina Thompson, Adriana Bland, Kristina Dressander, Matthew Dressander, Daniel Montero, and Sophia Montero.
