Joseph Lloyd Schuette of Lutz, Florida passed away at the age of 101 on September 15, 2023 in Tampa, Florida. Joe was born in Franksville, Wisconsin to Joseph and Mary Schuetta on September 7, 1922. Joe went to Waterford Union High School in Waterford, Wisconsin. He married Patricia Ruth Richter in 1947, in Wisconsin. Patricia passed away in 1963 and he later married Phyllis Yvonne Morris in 1968, in Tampa, Florida.
Joe worked as a sales man for Friskies after serving in WWII. He later started a successful company in commercial sanitation management in Tampa. The name of his business was “Mr. G The Garbologist”. He had a fleet of trucks in bright orange and green with the company name emblazoned on them. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army Air Corp serving in the European theater. He flew in the B-17 bombers working as an aerial photographer and was awarded six bronze stars, participating in missions over Normandy, Berlin and Central Europe.
Joseph is preceded in death by his first and second wives, Patricia and Phyllis, respectively, six siblings (Jean, George, Lawrence, Marie, Leo, and Loraine), his parents (Joseph and Mary Schuette), his step-son Larry Orth and grandson Samuel.
Joe is survived by his daughters Sally Black and Kim (Dan) Roche, daughter-in-law Sheila Orth, sister Helen (Smokey) Scholzen, five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Tunnel to Towers. Joe’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Melzer, Dr. Simkin, Cathi Preston, RN, and all the nurses on 5 north at James Haley VA, special thanks to Fernando Quintero and Gary, RN on 5 north, and lastly to the compassionate team in Palliative Care at Haley’s Cove.
