Joseph Daniel Matassini

MATASSINI, Joseph Daniel, D.O., age 28 of Tampa, FL, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 1, 2017. He was born January 6, 1989 in Tampa, the son of Joseph and Donna (née Rego) Matassini. Joseph played soccer on the "Spirit of '89” soccer team for over 10 years starting at the age of 5 years old. He loved playing soccer and was a darn good player. He was a 2007 graduate of the King High School I.B. Program and a National Merit Scholar. In 2011, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology Cum Laude from the University of Florida. In 2015, Joseph graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Joseph was a second year resident at UF Health Shands Hospital, Gainesville. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Louis Matassini and Oscar Daniel Rego, Jr. Survivors include his parents, Joseph and Donna Matassini; sister, Megan Matassini, DPM; paternal grandmother, Rose “Nani” Matassini; maternal grandmother, Gilda “Memere” Rego; and many loving family and friends. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 7th, at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 8th at Corpus Christi Catholic Church followed by interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
