Joseph Romano Mangione, 91, of Tampa, passed away peacefully August 26, 2022 at his home with family by his side. He was born in Corleone, Sicily and was the true definition of the American success story arriving in the United States in 1948 as a seventeen-year-old immigrant with his parents. Soon after starting his career, he met the love of his life Joanna Massaro. Together they enjoyed 67 wonderful years and delighted in traveling, cooking, dancing, holidays, and family Sunday lunches. He was a Knight in the Krewe of Sant’ Yago and together they were members of The Tampa Club, The Italian Club, and Christ the King Catholic Church. His greatest joy was raising their three sons and spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his adoring wife Joanna, parents, Salvatore and Maria Pizzo Mangione, his son Carl Alan, brothers: Antonio “Tony” and Iffrido Mangione, sister Giovanna Mangione Pasqua, brother-in-law James Thedford, sister-in-law Thelma Cona Mangione, and his nephew Dean Mangione. He is survived by his sons: Sam (Sharon) Mangione, Joseph (Melanie) Mangione, Jr., grandchildren: Christopher, Isabella, and Emily Mangione, sister-in-law Sandra Thedford, nephews: Francesco Pasqua and Jim Thedford, nieces: MariaTeresa (Franco) Rosa, Anna Maria Arancio Pasqua (Francesco) Sgarlata, Leslie (Dennis) Manelli, Deanna (Ronald) Kimble, and Janice Mangione, and many cousins, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
