Dr. Jorge O. Torres-Guzmán

Jorge is survived by his wife, Kerry Torres (O’Connor); his children, Jorge “Jorgito” and Almarosa “Alma”; his brother, William Javier Torres-Guzmán, of Caguas, PR; many dear family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Torres-Cordero and Alma Rosa Guzmán-Aviles.

Jorge was born in Caguas, PR on October 14, 1966. He attended Colegio Católico Notre Dame, and is a 1984 graduate of Colegio San Ignacio. After attending college at the University of Puerto Rico - Cayey and the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, Jorge continued his studies at Marquette University School of Dentistry, and is a 1993 graduate. He completed his General Practice Residency at East Carolina University, followed by his Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry Residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Jorge was a dedicated and skilled Pediatric Dentist, practicing for 26 years, caring deeply for both his patients and the team members he worked with.

While Jorge enjoyed many, many activities, including surfing, windsurfing, snowboarding, biking, and skateboarding, his true passion was sailing. Growing up in the Caribbean, he spent lots of time on sailboats with his family and friends, both cruising and racing. He shared his love of sailing with his wife, Kerry, and they were blessed with many opportunities to spend time together on the water.

A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 6:00pm-8:00pm, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 South MacDill Ave, Tampa FL 33609. A funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday, March 15, 2023, 9:30am at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 4518 South Manhattan Ave, Tampa FL 33609. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jorge’s life. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Moffitt Cancer Center in his memory.
