John Francis Sweeney, 74, of Tampa, FL, died October 20, 2018. Jack is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Jerilynn, daughter of Philomenia and Guliano Guselli, Bradford, MA. He was the only son of Francis John Sweeney and Reita Hickey, Andover, MA. He also leaves behind, brother-in-law, Gene and wife Nancy Guselli, Gloucester, MA and niece, Jacqueline, NYC.
Jack was born in Lawrence, MA and educated in the public schools. He was an Eagle Scout Ad Altare Dei Recipient and earned Baccalaureate and Master’s degrees in education.
Jack taught in the Peace Corps; public schools of Washington, DC; Horace Mann Bond Graduate School of Education-Antioch College; School of Education Boston University and Center Afro American Studies-Ohio University.
He retired from Education and joined IDI Designers Inc in 1974. Together Jack and Jerilynn worked for more than 30 years designing architectural signage systems for federal, state, county and municipal buildings in Florida and the Continental United States.
Per Jack’s request, there will be no services. Jerilynn-my body is tired and I am ready to go but I promise to walk slowly so that you can catch up and finish this remarkable journey together.
