Beloved husband of 59 years to Carol Hickey (nee Oblak); loving father to Jenine (Jim) Sutton, Dana (Nick) Bizic, and Kristin (the late Alan) Checca; cherished grandfather “Pap” to Brendan, Ethan, Jocelyn, Johnathon, and Jessica (Mike); great-grandfather of Gabriella and Colt; dearest brother of Irene (Jim) Burke; loving uncle, great-uncle, and friend to many.
Jack loved interacting with people, sharing stories and laughs; and enjoyed his career as a bus driver for the Port Authority of Allegheny County where he got to spend his days chatting with people and making new friends. After retiring, he moved to Florida and was blessed with a long retirement to enjoy the things he loved most - spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; having breakfast out at one of his local favorites; and watching old-time westerns on TV.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph and Mary Ellen (nee Cummings) Hickey; and his sisters, Maureen (the late Louie) Romano and Joann Sullivan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Parish - Saint Irenaeus Church, 387 Maryland Avenue, Oakmont, PA 15139. The family will welcome friends at 10:00 AM prior to the Mass.
