John H. Fogarty

John was born on February 27, 1932 in Sarasota, Florida. He is survived by his daughters, Rhea F. Law of Tampa, Florida and Andrea L. Jones of Zephyrhills, Florida along with their husbands E. Wayne Williams and R. Scott Jones respectively. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Laura Fogarty, and his parents Robert J. Fogarty and Carrie Lee Fogarty.

John worked for many years with Fogarty Brothers Transfer Company and met the love of his life, Laura Zito, through her work with Central Truck Lines. After winning over her father and mother, Benjamin and Mary Zito, John married Laura in September of 1952, Tampa, Florida.

Following his career with Fogarty Brothers, John took over ownership and operation of several businesses including mobile home parks and sales, commercial businesses and a boat sales.

Both of their daughters were born and raised in Tampa, Florida. Their daughter, Rhea F. Law, practiced law for over 40 years and is currently the President of the University of South Florida. Their second daughter, Andrea L. Jones, held leadership and operational positions with SunTrust (now Truist) for 29 years and recently retired in December, 2022.

The life of the Fogarty’s was filled with love and laughter and many exciting trips and adventures. They were members of Central Bible Chapel and John played the organ at the church for many decades.

A funeral service for John Fogarty is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Central Bible Chapel in Odessa, Florida. It will be immediately followed by a reception at the church. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
