In my quiet times, I still hear you laughing....thanks for  the memory....

It’s hard to believe that JD has been gone from us 2 years. He was a friend to many. You’ve heard the quote from  Will  Rogers “ I’ve never met a man I didn’t like” . That was JD.  You’re missed.

I thought I had already written a condolence message, but looking at all of them I didn’t see it. Anyway ,  better late than never.. I guess I first met JD at UF. Later on after he opened John David’s restaurant, I saw him again at his restaurant. Then I didn’t see him until he showed up at Tom and Joyce Traina’s 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. From that time on we used to meet at Ivarone’s along with his and my good friend Nick Alessi and we’d have breakfast and cafe con leche at Arco and West Tampa Sandwich Shop. I visited him at the hospital when he had an aortic aneurysm or something resembling one. One thing about JD he was never at a loss for words and he was everyone’s friend. I still miss him. 

Has it already been 1 year? Miss you Every day!

My brother and I were very fortunate that our parents chose such great friends. God bless you, JD.  The Buzbee family was better off for having known you. You were a great friend to all of us!

Sincerest condolences on the passing of the kindest  and most decent person I have ever know. A gentleman in the truest sense of the word. He will be sorely missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing this "larger than life" individual.  For me, he will always be remembered as a loyal friend and colleague and one of life's most unforgettable characters. Sadly, the end of an era.

JD and I were friends for 30 plus years….even though he left to party in Miami:). He was very dear to me….we had lots of laughs. Rest in paradise my friend❤️

I graduated from Jefferson High School in 1958 with JD. When I thought about what I could write about him the thing that popped up in my mind first was "he was the friendliest guy I knew in High School". Then I looked him up in our annual and sure enough he was listed under Senior Notables as "Most friendly". JD was a very refined gentleman, even back in our rowdy High School days. He never had anything bad to say about anyone and everybody liked JD. The last time I saw him was at our 50th Reunion and he hadn't changed as far as his personality. Dear JD,
It has been an honor and a privilege knowing you through my formative years and up through our later years in life. The times we had at Holiday Villas II as we played volleyball against Villas 1 and the hell raising that we did!
You were always giving up your time to me and your girls loved and adored you as a father. That was very evident by the way they treated and respected you back. And not every parent has a luxury of their children loving them back (trust me, I know)!
You will be forever be in our hearts and the topic of conversation when we all go out as a family from here on out!
