Jay Boyd Wolf passed away on August 13, 2014. He was born in Tampa, Florida on July 11, 1990. He attended Plant High School and graduated from Middle Tennessee State with a B.A. in Recording Industry Audio Production in 2013. Jay was an original; he radiated passion with his free-spirited nature. He was creative, loving, and adventuresome and lived a happy life of simple pleasures full of many friendships. Jay loved and cherished his family. Jay always put others before himself. Following graduation he moved to Austin, Texas to pursue his passion for music. While living in Austin and starting a career in the music industry, Jay worked as a server at Ranch 616 and tended bar at the Horseshoe Lounge. Jay regularly played music at local venues, loved concerts and supporting other aspiring musicians. He grew to love Austin and all his Texas friends. Jay was an avid songwriter and guitarist. Although only 24, he was a huge fan of great songwriters like Guy Clark and John Prine. Being a music purist he preferred vinyl albums. His record collection included every Johnny Cash album, several Willie Nelson albums, most Springsteen records and some Elvis vinyl. His purist tendencies meant reading only paper cover books, never electronic. Jay is survived by his parents Jennifer and Boyd Wolf, his sister Brendle Wolf, grandmother Anna Mary Wolf and many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Charles and Haven Poe, and by his paternal grandfather, Reverend Jack Wolf. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 18th at 5:00 PM at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, 3501 West San Jose Street, Tampa, FL 33629 and there will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church or to the Jay Wolf Memorial Fund benefiting emerging musicians c/o Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, 550 Rio Street, Suite 301, Tampa, FL, 33609.
