Janice graduated from Brainerd High School in 1982, after she moved to Tampa Florida beginning her career as an artist. During this time she mastered the skills of screen printing and logo design. Her desire to always learn more then led her to a lifelong career in commercial real estate. Where she began as a secretary her hard work and determination allowed her to advance to a commercial property portfolio manager in an industry where not many women had ventured. She dedicated her life to her family and career.
Janice's creativity went beyond art; she loved to cook and create custom cakes. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Janice loved to fish and enjoyed other activities on the water. Reading was also a big passion of hers. Janice was an exemplary daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend.
Janice is survived by her daughters, Jessica Rodriguez, Rachel Smith (Antwan Smith); mother, Peggy Sandra Jones; significant other; Christopher Barnes; brothers, Hal Wilkey (Lisa Wilkey), Britt Wilkey (Christy Wilkey); sister, Patricia Jaipersad; grandchildren, Kamora Smith, Ahiziah Smith, Jerimiah Smith, Anthony Smith, Kingsley Smith; nephews, John Wilkey, Wenzel Wilkey; niece, Leanza Fowler.
Janice was preceded in death by her father, Harold Roy Wilkey.
A funeral service for Janice will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida. Interment to follow in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4228 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
