Janice Ann Jones Johnson wanted us to inform everyone that her mission here was complete. “Sunshine Jan” chose April 26, 2016 for her “Sunset” on this beautiful earth. The many souls whose lives she touched would unanimously agree that “she went above and beyond her tour of duty.” Janice (Mommy, Nannie, J-Jo, Momma J…) will be remembered for her radiant beauty, gentle healing touch, infinite wisdom, angelic singing voice and her fierce devotion to everyone around her. Being born and raised in Tampa, FL instilled a love of the ocean and salt air. She graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1959. Her love for, and marriage to, Clayton N. “Buddy” Johnson, Jr. whisked her away to Atlanta, GA where she raised her children and developed a love for gardening and the Georgia people. Upon her husband’s death in 1999, she chose to return to her first love, which was the Florida sand beneath her bare feet. She proudly leaves a legacy of five children (C. N. “B.J.” Johnson III and wife Shirley; Shari Johnson; Beverly Gayle Johnson; Steve Johnson and wife Michelle; and Stan Johnson and wife Kelly), seven grandchildren (Brian, Bradley, Clay, Christopher, Taylor, Alex & Torie) two great grandchildren (Bryson & Brielle), in-laws, out-laws and an abundance of others that chose to call her their second Mother or dear friend. Janice received an offer that she couldn’t refuse from the Most High. Her new mission includes seashell collecting, singing, playing the piano, gardening, reading, sage council to those in need and reuniting with loved ones that she has been missing for a while. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Shiloh United Methodist Church (10 Almon Church Rd., Covington, GA 30014) followed by a “Celebration” of her life (around 3:00 pm) at the home of Steve and Michelle Johnson (5189 GA Hwy 20, Loganville GA 30052). Everyone is welcome.
