She was born on December 8th, 1949 in Atlanta, Georgia to John and Annie Dees. At a young age, they moved to Winter Haven, Florida where she grew up along with her younger brother, Terry. She attended Winter Haven High School where she was a member of the Devilettes Marching Team until she graduated in 1968. During this time, she met the love of her life, Johnny Fletcher. They were married on August 23, 1968 in Winter Haven, Florida. They relocated to Lutz, Florida where they raised their three children and started their business, Fletcher Surveying.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was always the life of the party. She was affectionately called “Honey” by her husband, she was known as “Maw Maw” to her grandchildren and “sister” to her brother. She enjoyed playing with her grandkids, tending to her yard, spending time with her friends, enjoying her animals and weekly Sunday night dinners with family. She was one of those people that “never met a stranger”….her infectious smile and outgoing personality enabled her to befriend anyone. Her friends described her as full of life and “crazy fun.” She could always be found on a dance floor until the music stopped.
She was preceded in death by her Mama (Annie), her Daddy (John), her niece (Jessica Dees) and her father-in-law (Clarence Fletcher).
She is survived by her husband, Johnny, her children Jennifer Lusk (Jay), Johnny Jr (Jen), Julie Coe (Matt); eight grandchildren - Jackson, Jason, Jillian, Jeffrey, Jacob, Josslyn, Jack and Joshua; her brother Terry Dees (Pam), her nieces Jamie and Janice; her mother-in-law Thelma Fletcher and her sister-in-law Jackie Fletcher.
Her Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, April 16th at Blount & Curry Funeral Home in Carrollwood, Florida. Visitation will start at 10:00 am, Service at 11:00 am with a reception immediately following.
