James Manley Weaver Jr.

James (Jim) Weaver, Jr., age 70, of Oakland Park, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 17, 2022. He was born on September 13, 1952 to Dr. James Weaver and Marguerite Shaw Weaver in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Jim graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in science in 1975, and from Florida International University with a master’s degree in construction management in 1995. He married Linda (Lindy) Mary-Ellen Schmagel on March 22, 1980. Loving father to Jessica Weaver Katelman and Carly Weaver. Beloved grandfather to Taylor Katelman, Mackenzie Katelman and Spencer Katelman.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Lindy.

Jim is survived by sisters Barbara Bijou, Patricia Weaver, and Mary Tovornik; brother Richard Weaver; sisters-in-law Cindy Whitaker and Connie Layer; brothers-in-law Steve Bijou, Kevin Tovornik, and Al Layer; and son-in-law Kris Katelman.

Jim was a general contractor in the South Florida area for over 35 years. He was a project manager for many commercial, aviation, hospitality and residential new construction, remodeling and renovations.
