Smith, James T. (“J.T.”), 84, a loyal servant of Christ, passed away Aug. 4, 2017. He taught God’s word for over 60 years as a church of Christ minister, most recently at Nebraska Ave. Born in Lillydale, TN, 6/24/33, he preached all over the U.S. as well as in the Philippines and Panama. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing; he loved playing golf and watching football – especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Bucs. He is survived by his wife of 68 yrs, Geneva “Brownie” Smith, daughters Judy Johnson, Joy Beaumont (Michael), Patti Lucchesi (Rick) Debbie Cleveland (Brett), grandchildren, Tara Williams, Jeffry Hammond (Carrie), David Rakita, Josh Allen, Jordan Rakita (Kayla), Jenny Allen, and great-grandchildren Jaylin Sayers, Mireya Allen and Ruby Rakita. Visitation 3:00 P.M., Service 4:00 P.M., Thursday, Aug. 10 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home on Bearss Ave.
