James Andrew Poole

POOLE, Dr. James Andrew, 57, of Tampa, Fl. passed away January 14, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Andy was born in North Carolina to Lawrence and Sally Poole. He was a loving husband and devoted father who will be missed by his extended family, numerous friends and colleagues, and his dog Maddie. Andy honorably served his country in the United States Navy for 22 years and served in various billets worldwide including Fleet Cryptologic Officer, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer. After retiring from the Navy, he continued supporting Navy programs as a civilian Senior Program manager, earning his Doctorate Degree in Strategic Management from J. Madison University. Andy was also a Senior Executive Fellow of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. For 9 years, Andy also served in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, District 7, including positions as Flotilla Commander and District Staff Officer. Andy was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence; and is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karen; his daughter Ashleigh; his mother Sally; and his brother Phil (Ann). He was loved by many and will be missed greatly by a circle of friends across several states. There will be a private family service at a later date.
