Jack meant so much Jamie. She always had kind words to say him.  

I didn’t know Jack as well as everyone else, but I know he had a family who loved him dearly and would do anything for him.  Hoping    the  family will find comfort and happiness in the memories shared with him over the years:). Sending big hugs and prayers your way!! Love your family, especially that daughter of yours!!❤️‍🩹

Part 3 of speech: 

When I started driving and well into my adult years, if he ever caught me not wearing a seatbelt correctly he would smack my shoulder, which is ironic since he never wore his.
My love of the oldies came from my dad. I would impress my friends parents with all the songs I would know all the words to. Even today I often impress Matt 
I am very thankful he was able to meet Caleb and spend time with him. he called him Cay-Man and loved to rub and kiss his head. My dad always loved babies, so this is a memory I will always cherish. I am sad he won’t be able to meet this little guy, but I know he has a guardian Angel watching over him 
My family thanks you all for coming and appreciate all of the support you’ve shown over the past week. 

Part 2 of speech: 

He used to take me to father daughter dances and do this crazy fast foot dance move, it embarrassed me when I was younger, but would kill to see those moves one more time 
 He was my t-ball coach, I wasn’t very good, but he supported me anyway. He took me to every dance practice and attended every recital. 
He didn’t have much of a filter so he would often tell me how much better my performance was even if the girls in the other performances were in ear shot 🤦🏻‍♀️ I was mortified when I was that age, now I see he was just so proud 
My dad was also persistent. When I would have an issue at school he would call and write letters to the teachers until they addressed it. He would always try to make me feel better by telling me the girls picked on me because they were jealous that I was prettier than them. If you knew me in 2nd grade that wasn’t likely the case, but that made 7 year old Emily feel better. 
Looking back, I can only remember my dad crying twice. Each time was when he had to bury one of our family dogs. He loved those “dumb lugs” as he called them
My dad could fix and build anything. Always fixing things around the house. He built many Pet enclosures. My Guinea pigs had a two story home  and he built my brothers reptiles massive enclosures that were often on wheels for ample transportability.

Matt read my speech for me and did the most wonderful job! He nailed the impersonations 

1st part: 

      It’s hard to believe that less than 2 weeks ago we were discussing home healthcare options and today we’re saying goodbye. As we say our goodbyes, I wanted to share some of my favorite memories of my dad
       My dad was a man of few words, such as “what!” and “haaah!”; funny one liners; and of course endless trivia knowledge, especially history. 
        He was also a man of few clothes. His typical summer outfit was gym shorts with no shirt and in the winter it was sweatpants and a sweatshirt with a robe over top.
       My dad was the best nickname giver. When I was little he called me Bunsie because of my cute baby buns. He changed it to Punsie when I got older, to make it a little more appropriate.
      I remember him teaching me my ABCs and calling my mom when she was in the Navy for me to recite them and sing her whatever new song we learned. He also taught me how to ride a bike with no training wheels at the age of  4. 
        He was always so encouraging and motivating. He never failed to tell me how proud he was of me and how wonderful I was. I can still hear him say “you’re so wonderful” 
       My dad always bragged on how many friends I had and shared his love for them as well. They all called him Mr. Jack and he let us eat all the junk food we wanted. I remember our weekly trips to the nearby Checkers drive-thru. We always agreed they had the best fries. 
        I also remember  making him drop us off at the movies around the corner so no one could see us or hear us in the really old and loud dodge Dakota truck. He never got upset with my request, he understood. He also picked us up the same way. His every Friday and Saturday night from 7th-10th grade revolved around dropping me off and picking me up at the movies. He never complained once 


In our younger married years, Jack and DeeDee would come to dinner with Johnny and me. One particular evening we were unable to get a ketchup bottle opened while sitting at the table. Well, not sure which manly man took charge .. but when they did and got it opened ...the kitchen walls, us,  and table were splattered with ketchup! We all looked as if  candid camera was filming us and we broke out in laughter.  ..and still smile at the memory.

I was so glad to hear the stories about Jack at the memorial.  You and he made one of my favorite people in the world and I will always be grateful for that!  It still amazes me how much I see Eric in some of Jack's younger photos.   He built a legacy of a family.  I wish I had known him longer.  I hope the memories of the great life he lived brings you peace.

Thank you for all the rides to the movies and skate park Mr Jack! So many silly memories and  fun times that I’ll never forget from your house and in the backseat of the car! Rest In Peace!
