TURNER, Helen Beatrice, 96, peacefully passed September 25, 2021 with her loving family by her side. She was an Officer’s Wife, married to Colonel H. Glenn Turner, Jr. She took her role as an Officer’s Wife seriously and was an asset to her husband’s military career.
After her husband died, due to cancer, Helen volunteered as a Pink Lady on the Cancer Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital. Helen enjoyed growing bromeliads, gardening, arts and crafts, crocheting, needlepoint, and sewing. She was an avid bridge player and fisherwoman. Helen enjoyed baking and decorating Christmas cookies and gingerbread houses with her grandchildren. The grandchildren enjoyed taking turns visiting grandma when she summered in the mountains of North Carolina.
Husband Colonel H. Glenn Turner, Jr. USAF(RET), parents, 5 siblings, and her long-time companion Ray predeceased Helen. She is survived by; daughter Kathy Turner, son, Michael Glenn Turner and wife Lisa, 4 grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, Nicole, and Zachary, 6 great grandchildren, caregivers Mark, Chris, and Paula, the Angels who took care of Helen.
A Private Service will be held.
Family requests a memorial donation to Metropolitan Ministries in lieu of flowers.
